Welcome to the Sisterhood Sanctuary
“We are not what happened to us — we are what we rise from.”

SUPPORT FOR OUR SISTER'S
At Sisterhood Sanctuary, we believe every woman deserves safety, dignity, and peace.
We are a community built by survivors, for survivors — a space where healing begins, hope is restored, and women rediscover their strength.
Every call we answer, every family we shelter, and every life we touch is a reminder of why we exist — to break cycles of violence and empower women to rebuild their lives with confidence and support.
✨ “We are not what happened to us — we are what we rise from.”
Our programs offer immediate crisis support, emergency housing, counseling, advocacy, and long-term empowerment resources designed to meet each survivor where she is — emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
Together, we rise. Together, we heal. Together, we build a future free from violence.
OUR WHY
We built Sisterhood Sanctuary on faith, empowerment, and purpose. This organization is the powerful union of three survivor-led movements — founded by Yanni Profit, Rashida Hughes— women who turned their own stories of survival into a shared mission of hope and healing.
Each of us has walked through pain, fear, and rebuilding. We’ve seen the gaps in support, the silence around abuse, and the challenges that so many women face when trying to start over. Out of that lived experience came our shared vision — to create a safe, healing-centered space for survivors across the South Suburbs of Chicago to rise, rebuild, and reclaim their strength.
Sisterhood Sanctuary is more than a resource center. It’s a movement — a home for women who are ready to heal, rediscover their power, and know that they are not alone.
Together, we are building a foundation of faith, healing, and restoration — where every survivor is seen, heard, and supported.
We invite you to join us.
Follow our journey, share our mission, and stand with us as we build a future rooted in healing, empowerment, and sisterhood.
.
Our mission is simple: to provide women and children with safety, support, and the tools to rebuild their lives.
We believe healing is not just about surviving — it’s about thriving, rebuilding, and reclaiming your power.
We are a community that listens without judgment, leads with compassion, and advocates for lasting change.
Programs & Services
Emergency Housing & Assistance
We provide safe, confidential emergency housing for women and children escaping abuse. Our team ensures survivors have access to essentials — food, clothing, hygiene items, and emotional support — while helping them secure stable, permanent housing.
Our programs are designed to meet survivors where they are, offering both immediate safety and long-term support.
Court Advocacy & Legal Support
Our trained advocates help survivors navigate the justice system, accompany them to court, and assist with Orders of Protection, custody filings, and safety planning.
Counseling & Emotional Wellness
We offer trauma-informed counseling and support groups that focus on healing the mind, body, and spirit. Our licensed counselors and peer advocates create a safe environment where women can process trauma and rediscover self-worth.
Food & Basic Needs Assistance
Through our food pantry and essentials closet, we help families meet their most immediate needs. Nourishment is the first step toward stability and dignity
Job Readiness & Economic Empowerment
We provide job readiness workshops, resume assistance, and professional development opportunities that help survivors regain independence and confidence.
Children’s and Youth Programs
Children who witness violence need specialized support. Our child advocates offer therapy, safety planning, mentoring, and educational resources that nurture healing and resilience.
Education, Training & Prevention
Our Southland Community Outreach Program (SCOP) connects women and children to community-based education, workshops, and support services that promote safety, self-esteem, and awareness.
